Window Fixed!

While we were waiting for the window on our boat to be fixed, we stopped at Larrabee State Park one day on our way back from shopping in Bellingham. Larrabee was established in 1915, and is the first state park established in Washington. It has good hiking trails and a great beach for swimming or just walking along the beach. There are wonderful views of Northern Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. It was hot the day we stopped there, and the water looked like the perfect day for boating!

We always enjoy hanging out around the boat. Even though we hadn’t planned to come to Anacortes Marina the first part of July, it’s been fun to be at the marina while we waited to get new glass made for our broken window. The weather has been great, and we enjoyed making progress on some of our maintenance projects.

Salute To Autumn!

Mirror Pond Shoreline

On an early evening in mid-October, the trees along the shore of Mirror Pond in downtown Bend were stunning, and their reflections were just as spectacular.

Central Oregon sparkles in the fall!

Central Oregon Spring Hiking

Painted Hills Unit

Since we got back from Anacortes in March, we’ve been busy with house projects and haven’t been able to fit in time for trips to the boat. So we’ve had a chance to enjoy some of Central Oregon’s wonderful hiking. Continue reading

Back to the boat

smith rock

We’re heading back to our boat! Shortly after we left Bend, we passed Smith Rock State Park on our way north on Highway 97.

After almost four weeks in Central Oregon, we finished the yard work at our house and returned to our boat in Anacortes Marina for some fall cruising. We had a good weather day for the 450-mile drive. Road construction and maintenance projects delayed us from time to time, but otherwise we had no complications.

Anacortes to Bend

phoenix_covers_on_at_dock

Jim puts on our canvas window covers and finishes closing up the boat before we leave her at the dock for a few weeks.

It’s the middle of summer cruising season, so why are we leaving our boat for a few weeks? That’s one of the challenges of having to split our time between boating and maintaining a house and yard!
